They are the "order-takers", those without the qualities necessary to run their own businesses and control their own levels of success. Today, fortunately for the professional sales people as well as the consumer, the attrition rate among "order-takers" is high, leaving the prepared, adaptable and industrious agents to truly help the home buyer and home seller, and because of it, succeed in an industry where too few truly adept professionals remain. As a former educator, I entered real estate sales for entrepreneurial fulfillment, hard to achieve in a salaried position with only modest steps to income advancement. Once in real estate, I witnessed, in awe, the financial success of my new colleagues. I knew, even as a rookie, that I possessed the same inherent abilities as they, however untapped and unrefined.
